The Why?

The concept to document everyone here was always with me since I arrived at Blue Silo. . .
It starts with the realization that there’s a need to push beyond your own space and share a bigger chunk of the world. It was an idea I had for some time, documenting artists in their own space. What better place to start than Blue Silo. There’s so much behind the scene that people don’t see that’s worth sharing. In the last six-plus years I’ve been here, many established artists have come and gone, and I wanted to try and freeze one moment in the ever-changing life of Blue Silo. There’s a history not only with the building itself but in every artist that calls this home. It’s a big deal to spend the greater part of your adult life dedicated to your passion in a place with others that share that dream, and It was important for me to show that.
I got to know and learn more about these great artists and the kind of interconnected community we have here. It’s really wonderful!
This project began as a photojournal to document all the artists who call this building home. Giving anyone access to this distinct view of the artist’s process. I wanted to show how the artist shapes the space, and the space shapes the artist. Michael Gadlin is a visual artist, website creator, designer, and has been at Blue Silo Studios since 2014.
