Stephen’s studio might be the smallest in the building, yet he has arranged it to be the most efficient. He places old drawings under the only window in his space that faces East. Other areas are organized with what seems to be an idea board. Three tables are arranged in such a way that they do not impede the openness of his studio space. They help give the space a very nice layout giving you ample room to move from one work area to another. Each table sits against a wall with carefully chosen elements from his studies and inspiration; hanging above each table. It’s no surprise that everything is placed so ergonomically at every corner. It all ties into what Stephen does for a living. Besides being a very skilled commissioned artist, he's an art-handler. He delivers and installs valuable works of art for a variety of high-end galleries and museums. This might have a lot to do with his propensity to maximize his studio space to a degree of super efficiency. You can see it in the way he approaches his work too, with a particular process, nothing is willy-nilly or out of place. Another fact worth noting is the connection of former students and teachers here in the building. Clark Richert (studio #202) was Stephen’s professor at RMCAD, Jenny Wilson (studio #200A) shares that history as well.
