Entering Maeve Eichelberger studio you immediately notice these large windows facing East toward the new CSU Spur complex. Maeve works primarily in plexiglass as her medium of choice to represent her refined western iconic ware. More recently, she's begun working in brightly colored plexiglass that sharply contrast these earthy-toned burnishments that her subjects have traditionally been represented with. This contract of palette and elements put her squarely in the center of Denver’s most important western contemporary ilk. The pieces are almost exactly to scale which make for a stylish and futuristic feel to the recontextualized objects. Rather than a surrealistic approach— which they first sort fo appear— until you investigate further into how she’s accomplished the magic bending with plexiglass. It seems like a difficult material to manipulate the way she has in fact done.
